This project was performed in 2004 and looks great even today. Four individual rooms were captured to create a large new kitchen space in this classic English Tudor home. An addition was constructed at the back of the house and an enormous steel beam inserted to carry the entire second story load of the structure. New windows create a nice connection to a large deck just outside the kitchen.
Given the year that this renovation took place, several leading-edge ideas stood out that have become industry standards. Custom cabinetry dominates the room with quarter sawn White Oak at the island and painted cabinets at the perimeter with glass upper doors and a commercial range. Notice how the upper cabinets have been held away from the window over the sink to create more of an open feeling.
