Every remodeling project has a story, and this one is a perfect example of honoring a home’s history while creating a space that better serves the family who lives there. Nestled on a beautiful rural property, this unique manufactured log cabin was anything but ordinary.
Constructed with beam-and-groove framing rather than traditional stick framing, the home featured authentic log cabin character, tongue-and-groove wall systems, and car-siding ceilings that created a warm and inviting atmosphere.
While the homeowners loved the charm of their cabin, the kitchen no longer met their family’s needs. Limited sightlines, inadequate gathering space, aging finishes, and hidden safety concerns made it difficult for the kitchen to function as the heart of the home.
The goal was simple: create a kitchen that felt open, welcoming, and functional while preserving the rustic character that made the home special.
Key priorities included:
As with many remodeling projects, uncovering the existing structure revealed challenges beneath the surface. The original kitchen electrical system presented significant safety concerns, including multiple outlets powered from a single 30-amp circuit. Our team completely redesigned and updated the electrical system, installing dedicated circuits to meet modern safety standards and support today’s appliances.
The flooring also required attention. Existing pine plank floors had begun cupping and settling over time. New luxury vinyl tile flooring was installed throughout the home, providing improved durability, moisture resistance, and long-term performance.
To maximize the homeowners’ investment, the design incorporated beautifully crafted ready-to-assemble cabinetry paired with carefully selected finishes that complement the home’s natural textures.
Notable features include:
• Cambria quartz countertops with subtle blue undertones and a textured finish
• A handcrafted pottery-style tile backsplash extending to the ceiling
• Reclaimed 100-year-old floating shelves preserved from the original home
• Display cabinetry for decorative accents and functional storage
• Updated lighting that brightens the space and complements the calming blue palette
The finished kitchen is a seamless blend of rustic authenticity and modern convenience. Natural light now pours through the expanded window, the open layout encourages gathering and connection, and every detail reflects the homeowners’ style and love for their unique home.
