BackWard Parkway Kitchen – Update03/19/20

This is the fourth complete kitchen renovation undertaken at this residence by Wineteer Construction.  The first was in 1993.  This iteration capitalizes on the abundant space available, but also captures the formerly compartmentalized laundry room area by incorporating it into the kitchen.  The new space allowed for a reconfiguration of the cooking areas and the addition of more refrigeration.

While the footprint of the kitchen did not change, the amount of available storage almost doubled.  Full-extension pull-out shelves are installed in every base cabinet and the 44” tall cabinets below the windows provide ample storage where none was available before.  Note that the dishwasher is installed at a typical wall oven height, just as it was originally.  Who says universal design is a new concept?  The island cabinet was built in a custom radius fashion to fit the existing granite countertop that the homeowners wanted to retain, just as they did with the concrete perimeter countertops.
