Here are three ways you can fall in love with your home even more this year:
According to a 2017 Houzz & Home study, 27 percent of homeowners started a remodeling project because they wanted to customize their homes. You have your own idea of what the perfect home looks like and no former builder or previous homeowner will have the same exact ideas in mind. Take the time to plan out and customize your home just the way you want it.
We all have those areas of the home that need to be fixed, spruced up or even completely redone. Maybe it’s the way your pantry is set up or the size of the pantry. Maybe it’s how impossible it is to get around your bathroom. Could it be that you have never been a fan of how closed off your kitchen is to the living room? Fix these troublesome areas in your home by transforming the pantry into a walk-in pantry, open up the kitchen by knocking down unnecessary walls or consider revamping your bathroom with an open floor plan.
A 2017 Aging in Place Report by HomeAdvisor indicates that 87 percent of adults aged 65 and older and 71 percent of adults aged 50-64 want to remain in their homes as long as possible. Begin remodeling projects now to start preparing for the long term when mobility and accessibility for those living in your home might be harder. Consider projects such as installing extra lighting in the bathroom and in stairwells, barrier-free showers for ease of living and lever handles on doors and faucets instead of turn knob handles.

Transforming the kitchen into one large great room can help to open up the space into the family room while maintaining many of the home’s beautiful features. Older homes present unique challenges, and custom cabinetry is a great solution to keeping a traditional feel in the home.
The bathroom must be functional to help people improve ease of living and remain at home. Installing a barrier-free shower with decorative bars and other accessories can offer these advantages without looking institutional. Our team at Wineteer Construction works to ensure form and function fit perfectly in your home while maintaining an elegant look.
Who doesn’t like a great place to store all the finer things in life? In this case, we are speaking about wine…one of the many things people love about the holidays. In the case of this remodeling project, we were able to use reclaimed lumber from the attic to create the perfect storage space for all their wine and other delectables. Stand-alone air units should also be installed in order to ensure optimal temperatures for your wine.
At Wineteer Construction, we build long-term relationships with our clients. Your styles and preferences become second nature to us. So, when you’re ready to start that next remodeling project, give us a call.

The year is coming to a close, and 2018 is fast approaching. Do you have plans for the holiday yet? Consider ringing in the New Year with friends and family and the perfect toast, compliments of a newly remodeled wine cellar. With many purposes, styles and trends surrounding wine cellars, you can plan your New Year’s festivities accordingly.
Not only can you use this design to store wines in various ways, but you can also show off your favorites on the shelves in the center of the display. Place the wines you’re tasting on the shelf to help you and your guests remember the order of the tasting.
With a spot for taste tasting inside your wine cellar, you’ll be able to enjoy the atmosphere and aromas of your wine even more, giving you the perfect vineyard feel. Consider giving your tasting table a dual purpose with storage underneath as well.
Storing wine bottles with the labels facing out and upright will make the selection process much easier and quicker, especially for new guests that haven’t experienced your wine cellar yet. Plus, this arrangement makes for a great display as you highlight your favorite wines in a central location.
Never worry about storage in the refrigerator for those wines that need to be chilled. With a functional design like this, you can keep your wines on great display and easily access any wine, chilled or not.

We are grateful for the many opportunities we are given on a daily basis to assist clients with renovations that improve ease of living and functionality. In an effort to allow more people to be surrounded by their loved ones in their own home as long as possible, we are proud and excited to make a donation to the Falling Forward Foundation once again this year.
The Foundation focuses on funding patients recovering from catastrophic medical issues, as many people don’t receive the rehabilitation they need to fully recover.
May your holidays be filled with peace, joy and those you love!
Warm regards,
The Wineteer Construction and LifeWise Renovations Team
It’s a well-known fact that families often end up gathering in the kitchen during the holidays. For the Dodds, their kitchen has always been a cook-style kitchen, as they are constantly entertaining guests.
Any kitchen has to complete a number of tasks on a daily basis, so the following updates were made in this particular remodel to keep kitchen functionality high:
Any of these updates can be installed in your dream kitchen as well, so long as the floor plan allows it! The key takeaway in any kitchen remodel: form follows function. We design kitchens in a way that assures it offers functionality, while still aesthetically entertaining and hosting guests.
No matter what your kitchen dreams and plans are, work with your contractor to identify the specific goals of the remodel. These goals should drive what appliances and cabinets are selected, and where they are placed in the kitchen.
Ready to make your dream kitchen a reality? Wineteer Construction is your go-to remodeler in the Kansas City area, offering clients remodels that are always “Planned Right. Priced Right. Done Right.”
